About the Doveton Show…
Held each year at the same time as the Royal Melbourne Show, the Doveton Show has been an exceptionally successful community-driven initiative, attracting
over 10,000 attendees in 2008, showcasing the Doveton Eumemmerring community and providing a low-cost alternative to the Melbourne Show.
The Show is organised and run by an events committee, that is made up of a group of volunteers who work together to create the Doveton Show each year.
The Show was held for the first time on September 25th 2005. Event organizers were confident of attracting at least 1,000 and were hopeful that they might get as many as 2,000 people through the doors. Hopes were exceeded with over 5,000 people flocking to Myuna Farm, from as far as Nyora and Keilor. While volunteers and stall holders were still setting up, the first wave of visitors were already walking up the gravel driveway. Past the community veggie garden and deer paddocks they headed over to see what the Doveton community had to show them. They weren’t disappointed.
There was something for everybody including rides, an animal nursery, performances such as Aboriginal dancers, competitions and stalls offering toys, plants, health information, cakes and biscuits and much more.
By the end of that exhausting, exhilarating day, stall holders, vendors and ride operators were reserving places for next year and commenting on how much they loved being part of the Doveton Show.
The Show has continued since then as an annual event. Last year in 2009 we broke our record and attracted over 10,000 people to this increasingly popular event.
We are proud to offer an event that caters to all sectors of the community and which continues to remain affordable whilst still providing a great range of fun and activities for everyone.
Welcome to this years’ 5th Doveton Show.
